Birthday Girls

This weekend was Ellie's and Julie's joint birthday.  Isobel created two fabulous birthday cakes.  Ellie received a down hill ski slope chocolate cake complete with giant slalom course although Ellie did question the spacing of the gates and the line taken by the tracks Isobel put on!

After some present opening it was off to Piaza for a meal and then home for some well earned cake.  A few photos below.

Today's offering from Isobel:- A berry sponge with a muscarpone cream and berry coulis filling  topped with raspberries and mini meringues and berry coulis.

I promise, it tasted every bit as good as it looked!  Was even tempted back for seconds!

Friday In Cornwall

Fabulous day again, clear skies and a warm breeze.  Went for a walk across the beach and then along to the headland heading round to Port Quinn.  Turquoise seas and incredibly clear with views up to Lundy island.  Here are a few piccies.

Thursday in Cornwall

Thursday dawned overcast and a bit damp so after calling in at Rock and Wadebridge for some supplies we headed off to Lanhydrock, a National Trust Property inland just the other side of Bodmin.  A beautiful house dating back to 1640 giving some facinating glimpses into life of the landed gentry and their servants!  There was an enormous kitchen with s spit for roasting that looked as though it would take a large pig if not an ox!  If that as not enough there was also a scullery, bakery, dry larder, fish larder, meat larder, dairy and dairy scullery!

Wednesday Evening Surfing

After a brief thunderstorm at lunchtime the weather cleared so it was out for a short cliff walk at Porth Quin and then back to Polzeath for some evening surfing.  Tide was in and the waves were much stronger being funnelled into a narrower beach, great fun!

Had a pre-dinner swim on Daymar beach on the high tide, somewhat chilly without the wetsuit, Ellie and Anna declined to partake, electing to sit on the rocks instead.
