Sunday Skiing

well up till last Sunday we had some great skiing up at the Lecht, and then the thaw set in!  By Friday the Lecht was very brown and prospects for today looked bleak but thanks to some snow yesterday we managed to get some somewhat marginal skiing in!

Great Day Skiing

Sunrise at the Lecht this morning at 8.30, had the run to ourselves for the first half hour or so.  Conditions absolutely alpine, clear skies, well below freezing and plenty of snow.

Here are a few photos of Ellie training in the afternoon.

Saturday 16th January

Had a morning up at the Lecht, absolutely alpine conditions, virtually no queues and fabulous snow.  Skied solidly from 8.30 till 11.30 and then packed in, legs were dead!  Followed it with a mug of tea and some of Isobel's fabulous chocolate brownie in the car park to help recuperate!

A Very Full River!

The River Don got within 6cm of its all time high today, the gauge at Alford peaked at 2.89m, the highest on record was 2.95m in 2002.  Here are a few photos from along the road from Ramstone.  This was only the second time we have seen the water up on the road.  Thankfully, as can be seen from the river gauge, it appears to have peaked now.

New Years Day

Today's forced march was from Seaview to Cuan and then back round by the road, sustained this time by Malteser reindeers............. I mean what else would you take?

New Years Eve

Had a walk up to the hill above the Wishing Tree at Ardmaddy with the girls, a little drizzle on the way up but cleared at the top so all was well.  The rain was of course considered to be my fault!

I did however manage to rectify the situation by producing a rather fine supply of home made mince pies for consumption at the summit, even Isobel was seen to consume one!
