Millstone Hill

Isobel and Julie were down in Edinburgh having a look round Edinburgh and Heriot Watt university open days so Ellie and I were home alone.  Took Ellie into the gym this morning and then this afternoon we had a walk up Millstone hill.  As you can see from the photos the weather looked threatening but thankfully stayed dry throughout.

Walk at Seaview

Spent the last two days over at the cottage with Ellie. Went over to Seaview for a walk yesterday afternoon, somewhat windy and rain was threatening but did not arrive till later.  The forecast for the weekend was dreadful so we went in to Oban for fish and chips and then beat a path back to Monymusk.  Today's weather here in comparison to the drenching the West Coast has had suggests that that was the correct decision!

Scottish Dry Slope Championships

Last weekend saw Ellie and I in Edinburgh for the Scottish Dry Slope Championships at Hillend in Edinburgh, the longest artificial ski slope in europe.  We had a training session on Friday night followed by a slalom race on Saturday and then Giant Slalom on Sunday.  Unfortunately the Saturday course was unbelievably hard and, like two thirds of the entrants, Ellie was disqualified for missing a gate.  Sunday went better with her completing both runs of the giant slalom cleanly and taking 5 seconds off her time from last year.

Saturday Hockey

Isobel was keeping goal for the first team at the school on Saturday morning.  They were up against Strathallan,, somewhat formidable opponents that thumped them 7-0 at Strathallan last year.  This year it was a home fixture at Countesswells.  The good news was that Isobel got lots of practice and had plenty of action, the not so good news was that they lost 6-0, although that is one less than last year!
